Want to participate in our local Winter Bike to Work Day, Feb. 9th?

Biking to work can be a year-round activity, and the city of Aurora is participating in this year’s 6th Annual International Winter Bike to Work Day Feb. 9.

The city joins the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and metro-area municipalities to celebrate the money-saving, calorie-torching, stress-busting adventure that is winter bike commuting. Just remember to don a warm pair of gloves, a light wool hat and layers to stay warm, and avoid mishaps when snow and ice are present by slowing down and maintaining an upright position at all times.

A number of activities are scheduled to reward those winter warriors who participate, including:

City of Aurora and Bike Share Pit Stop (at the R Line)
6:30 to 8:30 a.m., Aurora Metro Center Station, 14555 E. Centrepoint Drive
On your way into work, stop by for a warm beverage, breakfast snack and information about dockless bike share from the city of Aurora. Stop by ofo’s tent to check out their bike-share bicycles (free to any rider throughout the month of February) and learn how to use them, and get a free refreshment when you take a ride. And pop over to LimeBike’s display for more information on their bike-share bikes as well.

At Stanley Marketplace (along the Westerly Creek Trail)
Logan House Pit Stop
7 to 9 a.m., Logan House Coffee Company, 2501 Dallas St.
Get your caffeine fix on your way to work with 10 percent off all coffee beverages.
Cheluna Pit Stop

7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., Treads Bicycle Outfitters, 16701 E. Iliff Ave.
Take a break from your ride with a free cup of coffee, and chat with folks from Bicycle Aurora and ofo.

Peak to Peak Pit Stop (near the Toll Gate Creek Trail)

Stop in to refuel for the ride home, mention your participation in Winter Bike to Work Day and get 10 percent off your tab, including brews and food. From 6 to 8 p.m., enjoy a performance by the national indie-folk acoustic duo Witherward, talk with ofo about bike share and celebrate with staff from the city of Aurora.

Take our selfie challenge by posting a photo of yourself or a friend participating in Winter Bike To Work Day on Facebook or Twitter and include #WinterBikeToWorkDay and #ThisIsAurora in your post. You’ll be entered into a drawing for great prizes from the city of Aurora like a Cannondale floor pump, a Starbucks gift card, reflective vests and a hot/cold drink container.
